Matcha Tea Latte

To celebrate International Tea Day we thought we'd have a go at making the perfect matcha latte. We know what you're thinking... a tea that is also a latte does sound a little odd, but trust us, it works!

Matcha tea is made from green tea leaves, however, instead of using a bag to steep the chopped tea leaves, matcha is made with whole leaves that have been ground down into a fine powder. Usually, hot water is added to the matcha powder to create a traditional matcha tea. It can be enjoyed with or without milk, however, for that extra touch of delicious luxury, we used our new milk frother (MF500) to froth our milk first before adding it to the matcha mix. The result was a delicious matcha tea latte!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ tsp matcha powder (green tea powder)
  • 1 tbsp hot water (not boiling)
  • 120ml milk
  • Optional: 1tsp of sugar or a drop of honey to sweeten

Don't have a milk frother?
Check out our brand new MF500 milk frother which will transform any hot drink into a truly luxurious indulgence..

Method

1. Put the matcha powder into a cup and add the boiling water. Stir well.

2. Heat and froth the milk using a frother. An electric milk frother works best to achieve a good quality velvety froth.

3. Slowly pour the milk to the matcha mix and stir it as your pour.

Optional: if you like your tea to be sweet, add sugar or honey to taste.
