Ice Cream Day

As well as July being officially hailed as Ice Cream Month, the 17th July has also been officially dubbed Ice Cream Day. Originally it was celebrated in the USA, however now the trend has caught on around the world and you can find people celebrating it everywhere by enjoying this tasty dessert.
National Ice Cream Day was actually officially decreed a special date by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 to help boost the ice cream industry in America. Ice Cream Day always falls on the 3rd Sunday of July and is celebrated by people tucking into their favourite frozen desserts.

Blueberry
400g blueberries, plus more for serving
50g caster sugar
1 Juice and zest of 1 lemon
720ml double cream
400ml sweetened condensed milk
Cherry
60g frozen cherries (stoned & lightly pureed)
415ml sweetened condensed milk
295ml double cream
6 tbsp icing sugar
Pistachio
100g pistachio (unsalted & shelled)
150ml milk
100g golden caster sugar
300ml double cream
300ml ready-made custard
½ tsp almond extract
Lemon
400ml double cream
150ml whole milk
160g sugar
225ml lemon juice
4 tbsp lemon zest
Fun Fact
Ice cream is one of the world’s oldest desserts. It was invented in its first form in the 7th century in China under the ruling of King Tang of Shang. King Tang would send a group of ice-men up into the mountains where they would take fermented cow, goat and buffalo milk mixed with flour and camphor and freeze it into a kind of frozen yoghurt/ice cream (yum..)
