How to Set Up a Dual Monitor Desk: A Practical Guide
Screens side by side
Landscape or portrait
Adjustable positioning
1. Decide how you’ll use both monitors
Before moving equipment around, think about the tasks you do most often. Your layout should make the main task comfortable to view, with the second screen close enough to glance at without repeatedly turning your whole body.
Office work
Keep documents, spreadsheets or email on one screen while you work on the other.
Creative projects
Use one display for the project and another for tools, timelines or reference material.
Gaming and streaming
Keep your main game or app centred, with secondary tools or chat on the other screen.
2. Position the screens for comfortable viewing
Place your primary monitor directly in front of you. If you use both screens equally, position them together so the join sits close to your natural viewing direction. Keep the displays at a comfortable distance, with the top of the screen around eye level as a useful starting point, then adjust to suit your vision, screen size and seating position.
Try to minimise glare from windows and lamps. If one screen is used mainly for occasional reference, angle it slightly towards you rather than leaving it far off to the side.
3. Free up desk space with a dual monitor arm
Two original monitor stands can take up a surprising amount of room. A dual monitor arm lifts the displays off the work surface, leaving more space for a keyboard, notebook, laptop or other desk essentials. It also gives you more freedom to adjust each screen’s position.
The Duronic DM152 is a desk-mounted dual monitor arm designed for two 13–27 inch monitors, supporting up to 8kg per arm. It is compatible with VESA 75 × 75mm and 100 × 100mm mounting patterns and offers height adjustment, tilt, swivel and 360° screen rotation. Check your monitor’s mounting pattern and weight before purchasing.

A practical way to position two compatible monitors and reclaim desk space.

- Up to 8kg per monitor arm
- VESA 75 and 100 compatibility
- Adjustable tilt, swivel and rotation

4. Check your desk before installing the mount
Not every desk is suitable for every mounting method. Before fitting a monitor arm, check the desk’s thickness, construction, underside clearance and the instructions supplied with the mount. Make sure the clamp can sit securely and that the desk surface is appropriate for the combined load.
The DM152 uses a desk clamp and can also be installed with a compatible grommet converter where the desk and installation allow it. The grommet converter may be a separate accessory, so confirm the product listing and included parts before ordering. Do not force a clamp onto a desk that cannot support it securely.
5. Tidy cables and fine-tune the layout
Once the monitors are mounted, adjust their height and angle, then route the cables so they have enough slack to move with the arms. Avoid pulling cables tight or letting them catch in the joints. Keep power and connection leads organised without blocking ventilation or creating a snagging hazard.
Dual monitor setup checklist
- Confirm both monitors are within the mount’s screen-size and weight limits.
- Check that each screen has a compatible VESA 75 × 75mm or 100 × 100mm pattern.
- Make sure the desk can safely support the mount and screens.
- Place the primary screen in front of your usual seating position.
- Adjust height, tilt and rotation for comfortable viewing.
- Leave cable slack for movement and keep leads tidy.
- Recheck all fasteners and follow the installation instructions.
